I offer Private Lessons, Group Lessons, as well as Skype Lessons for ALL ages.
Although my primary education is on the electric and upright bass, I also teach piano, guitar, ukulele, as well as beginner drums. I have a variety of techniques for teaching and communicating information. I use traditional methods as well as modern technology. I am big on learning by ear, but the ability to be able to read is important. Having a background in bass, I find it vital to learn a variety of styles including classical, jazz, funk, rock, blues, folk, and reggae amongst others. I am also big on theory and ear training. Normally prior to the first lesson, I will communicate with the student/parent to discuss their goals and go from there.
For Skype lessons, my Skype name is alfredo_boomboom. I have found that Skype is great for those who already have a foundation on their instrument since there is a time lapse and we cannot play together in real time. I use dropbox to send audio as well as pdf’s to share information. I have taught students in Florida, Oklahoma, Colorado, Canada and England among other locations.
For Group lessons, I have done this mainly in schools doing workshops on Music theory, Auditions, Bass Basics, and Drum and Keyboards for those that don’t play those primarily. I have also done Group Lessons for bands looking to improve their songwriting, stage presence, and playing among other aspects.
Below are my Scholastic Achievements:
- Associate’s Degree from Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, CA
- Bachelor’s Degree (Magna Cum Laude) from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA
- Master’s Degree from Cleveland State University
